As a practicing beautician for many years, I have observed that pigmentation mainly affects those who have dry of oil and dehydrated skin. As our skintype is often born with but we can help to balance the skin with both moisture-rich serum (eg. hyaluronic acid) and essential oil which does not congest the skin.

How does facial oil help?

Facial oil serves to strengthen and protect the natural fat in the skin. Some oils are formulated with Vitamin A, E and a rich blend of omega-6 fattry acids to calm, repair and protect the skin. eg. Maria Galland Omega Oil which can be used as an anti-aging skincare for all seasons of the year. It is especially suitable for warm and suitable weather in Singapore as it is a dry oil with moving oil  which absorbs easily into the skin without leaving an oily feeling.

The top of the list facial oil at the celebrity level is Rosehip oil. Much fanfare came a couple of years ago when the Duchess of Cambridge, Gwyneth Paltrow, Victoria Beckham and model Miranda Kerr all mentioned they use rosehip oil to keep their skin smooth and blemish free.

Lavendar: this essential oil helps heal skin irritation and can be used for all skin types. It can cleanse cuts and scrapes, also calm down stressed skin.

Geranium is a versatile oil that balances oil production, conditions skin and is great for all skin types. Geranium can be added to moisturizers to help balances skin oil.

Frankincense helps treat aging skin with elasticity concerns. Helps to regenerate skin cells, reduce pigmentation and tightens skin.

Ylang Ylang is great treating oily and pimple-prone skin while helping stimulate cell growth to help fight the effects of aging.

Chamomile can treat a variety of skin conditions including eczema, inflammation, sensitive skin and rosacea.

Do remember, never apply pure essential oil on the face as it might burn the skin. Facial oil by established brands would have mixed it with the right moving oil including jojoba oil, macadamia nut oil, sunflower seed oil to ensure maximum benefits.
