Best care for acne skin by Best Facials Singapore
There are many factors that cause acne, but almost always the underlying issue is hormones.
Hence, in this blog, besides clever cleansing and natural skincare/facials, Angels Dream Spa would like to help suggest foods that you should include and exclude from your diet.
Before, acne is a condition which plague our teenagers. Recently, we notice adult acne is an epidemic which is spreading to those in their twenties, thirties and forties. 80% of the population actually suffer from acne at some point of their life. But why?
The sebaceous glands are very sensitive to hormonal changes during puberty (hormones called androgens). The clogged pores due to excess oil are very conducive for bacteria which causes inflammation. The other stages of life cycle which experience hormonal changes including pregnancy, menopause or when taking hormonal contraceptives.
What actually happen?
We have 5 million hair follicles in our bodies, which is where acne start. Each pore which becomes clog due to excess oil production will cause follicle to swell. The oxygen supply to these follicles become reduced, producing the ideal environment for bacteria to multiply. Soon whitehead, blackhead, pimple and acne forms.
What should we do?
1) Clever cleansing
If you suffer from acne, it is common to feel that the skin is ‘dirty. Yes. it could be inflamed but it is also sensitive and very likely dehydrated.
Our suggestion is to have 2 cleansers. One gentle gel cleanser which gently cleanses without overstripping the skin of water and oil. The other cleanser is more anti-bacterial and exfoliating eg., enzyme cleanser, AHA, BHA or even salicylic acid or green tea or teatree. However, the trick is to use the anti-bacterial cleanser only at night.
2) Pimple cream
Non-sulphur pimple cream. An appropriate pimple serum/cream is very important. We highly recommend Maria Galland SOS Purifying Serum or Guinot Pure Balance Cream.
These creams will not overly burn the skin surface but help to dry out the pimple gently. Yet, very effective. Within 1-2 days, the pimple dries up
3) Do not pick on the pimple
Besides scarring, picking on pimples also can cause the bacteria to go deeper into the pores and cross infect other pores.
